Yaaargh is a Choose-your-own-adventure book set in a pirate world, designed to be played with several players (3 to 8 players) around a table — with no GM, no board, and no bulky components.
You have:
- the book,
- a world map,
- and your crew.
You all play as members of the same pirate crew, sailing on the Mare Omnium, a vast ocean dotted with islands. Together, you choose where to go, what to attempt, and uncover the story paragraph by paragraph.
A game is played like a series of voyages and stopovers :
- You choose a destination on the map, and you set sail.
- You experience the crossing (calm, tense, or dangerous).
- You arrive at a encounter (an island, a ship, a port, a strange phenomenon...) and read one or more passages.
- As a group, you discuss and decide : which plan to follow, which risk to take, who acts, who speaks, and which compromise to accept...
The key is that your choices have consequences : they shape what happens next, open or close off possibilities, and steer the story toward different paths and endings..
There is no GM : the book (Fortunae Mundi) serves as both narrator and referee, guiding you from island to island through a fully narrative adventure.
